Separate toughness from tolerability
Durability decides most of this order, while comfort and fit prevent an unpleasant pair from winning merely because it is difficult to wear out.
Elastic is usually first
A waistband or leg opening that stops recovering ends the useful life even when the fabric remains intact.
Construction matters
Seams, hems, and fabric thinning belong in the durability judgment, not just visible holes.
Read this as provisional
Long-term wash testing is still underway, making this the category most likely to change as measured results replace estimates.
Why this order differs from the main list
Durability carries most of the weight, but deliberately not all of it. A pair that survives two hundred wash cycles and feels like a bin liner has not solved the problem, so comfort and fit hold a combined 35% as a floor under the result. Value keeps 10%, because durability is partly an economic argument: the reason to want a pair to last is not wanting to buy it again. Breathability is excluded. It tells you nothing about how a garment ages.
