A weighted average of 5 criteria and nothing else. Same weights for every brand, every time.

Comfort 30% · Fit 25% · Durability 20% · Breathability 15% · Value 10%

Comfort: All-day wear with no chafe, dig, or waistband bite.
Fit: True sizing, leg-hold, and how well the cut stays put.
Durability: Elastic and fabric integrity after 30+ wash cycles.
Breathability: Moisture handling and airflow under heat and activity.
Value: What you get relative to the per-pair price.

Re-weighted

When the default weighting is wrong for you

The weights above are set for the most common case. They are not right for everyone. Someone buying for a marathon should not have value counting for 10% of the answer, and someone on a strict budget should not have it counting for only 10% either. So rather than write a separate opinion for each case, we change the weights and recompute the same 200 sub-scores. Every category page prints the formula it used.

Popularity

Brand size, ad spend, and how often a name appears in other roundups carry no weight. A brand nobody has heard of can rank first.

Payment

No brand can buy a position, a re-score, or the removal of a criticism. No brand sees its score before publication.

A single right answer

A brand that wins on breathability can lose badly on durability. The per-criterion breakdown is more useful than the headline number.
